We started out on our first adventure, besides the honeymoon, on September 1, 2012. We were flying to New York from Florida, ready to pack all my stuff in a trailer and drive my Ford to Texas when we received a phone call telling us that my Fords front right wheel bearing was bad and needed to be fixed!! Well, since we had to leave the next day to drive 1500 miles to our house, we started making lots of phone calls as to whom could fix my Ford in the few hours before we had to leave. Thats when our friends, Jason and Jon, came to the rescue!! Jason provided the wheel bearing and Jon provided the labor! In the meantime, while Jon was fixing the wheel bearing, he allowed us to borrow his truck to pick up the trailor. As Kev and I arrived to pick up the trailor, he pointed out the one we had rented! "It won't fit! All of my stuff won't fit in that trailer" I replied, slightly worried. We ended up with the small trailer and to my utter amazement, Kevin, Jeremiah, and Uriah was able to fit everything in that trailer and the Ford with room to spare!! God is good!We started on our way only a few hours off schedule!
Leaving that day was one of the hardest things that I have had to do, and I started the trip crying my eyes out! But as the miles passed, so did the tears, and we had a great trip to Texas. We laughed, talked and sang.We had funny moments and we had serious moments! The trip seemed to take forever but at the same time, it was a fun trip, just not one we will make often by car. I laugh now, but at the last hotel we stopped in before reaching our new home was absolutely disgusting!! It was dirty but of course you didn't see that until you had already paid and got into the room! Needless to say, we got up really early to be on our way to Texas. We reached our home that night around 6, what a blesssed relief to get out of that car. Kevins brother, Peter and his wife, Fran, and son came over that night and helped us unload the trailer! As Kevin and I walked into the house, dinner was on the stove for us, the bed had a beautiful new quilt on it,as well as new sheets, candles were lit,and soft music was playing! My wonderful husband had this all planned before we got married and had asked his older brother Chris and his wife to have dinner for us but they had gone above and beyond to make us feel at home. Orchids were also planned for and put by our bed!!
What a nice welcome to our new home!! God had truly blessed in our new life as husband and wife and has blessed me with a wonderful husband as well as a wonderful new family!!
Hey! I didn't hear about all this! ;) Sounds like soo much excitement!
